Eating raw foods. Google Lou corona
I’ve been dieting for quite a while and I’m down about 55 pounds. Cutting down portion sizes and exercise is very very important but yes so is your diet.
One thing that works really well is to eat things that are high in protein after you work out. You should always have some sort of protein with every meal – chicken, turkey, cottage cheese, eggs, and low fat peanut butter.
Whole wheat pasta can be fine as long as you eat it in moderation :]
Snacking has been made a lot easier now that Weight watchers has gotten so many items in the grocery stores. Try out some of their stuff, they have like ho-hos and cookies and muffins and brownies. Pretzels are pretty good for you, also string cheese and any of the Baked chips.
Hope this helped! Good luck
Avoid the excessive sugars and net-carbs (the underlying culprit in all dietary weight gain and chronic health conditions) and focus on lots of different veggies, healthy natural fats (yes, even natural saturated fats are healthy), and quality proteins.
It is a complete dietary myth, based on flaw/biased studies done 50+ years ago that fats (even saturated) are bad for you or make you gain body fat weight (quite the opposite actually). The only fats you have to avoid are the UNNATURAL, altered/mutated fats, like hydrogenated/trans fats, homogenized (dairy) fats, and other heavily refined, super-heated and rancid added oils used in many processed foods.
I would recommend some healthy pastas for you, of course whole wheat, try some quinoa pasta, and artichoke pastas. As add in celery to your vegetable list. For snacks get some trail mix of nuts and fruits,
YES! i love pasta tooo!
whole wheat/whole grain pastas are great
if you want lasagna you can stuff the lasagna with veggies, lean turkey meat and whole grain lasagna
fettuccine alfredo:
grilled chicken breast, whole wheat fettuccine, *skim milk, and low fat parm cheese for alfredo sauce
etc!
BEST OF LUCK!!!
make sure you get whole wheat bread aswell!
I loveee pizza! and im going to start making homeade pizza with whole wheat pizza dough!
That’s one of the most important questions for somebody who is trying to lose weight. We all know what we are NOT supposed to eat. The tough part is finding foods and recipes that we love, we won’t get bored with, are easy to make, and will keep us on the path to good health.
I think that to keep eating healthy, you’ve got find at least 10 different healthy recipes you can make at home that will satisfy those requirements. You also need good healthy snacks. Healthy snacks are crucial to weight loss. Eating raises your metabolism, so a snack that gets your body burning calories without giving it more calories than it can actually burn is key.
I’ve lost over 60 lbs. My favorite snacks are 3 things. First, cut up vegetables, which I prepare every morning before work. They are low in calories and high in nutrition and fiber. Second, nuts (not peanuts, I eat cashews, almonds and walnuts). Nuts are high in protein, low in fat and zero in carbs. Third, 4 tablespoons of PLAIN yogurt with about a teaspoon of honey. Watch out for the fruity yogurts that advertise themselves as “LowFat”, most have a lot of added sugar, which you don’t want.
For meals, the three food groups that you want to center your food plan on are, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats/beans. Since you are cutting sugars and fats, make sure you use herbs and spices to flavor things up and keep them from getting boring.
One thing to remember: moderate fat and low carbs is much better than low fat, higher carbs. If you need to use a little butter or mayo to make it taste OK, then do it, just try to keep those things to a minimum and use vegetables and fruits to keep things juicy. If you need to cook with some oil, use olive oil. It has beneficial fats and is healthy in strict moderation.
Your whole grain pasta can be a great part of this. But one thing to be careful of is prepared sauces. They add quite a lot of high fructose corn syrup, which is basically the Great Satan of weight loss stoppers. Make your own marinara sauce. You can make a great sauce to top your pasta by sauteeing some garlic, onions, peppers, celery, zucchini, pretty much any fresh vegetable you want to put in there, add in some ground turkey and brown it, and then adding tomato puree to make the sauce. simmer for 20 minutes or so and you have a great sauce that’s healthy.
You can also make:
tuna salad
chicken salad
chili
grilled chicken and vegetables.
Look on the internet for healthy recipes. Experiment, find a bunch of things you like to make and cook. If you’ve got a dozen or so, you can prevent yourself from getting bored or burnt out on the same foods over and over.
I have a few great tips for healthy foods that I eat on a daily (or almost daily) basis. I focus on eating 4-6 small meals/day and make sure that fiber and protein are part of each meal.
Typical day for me!
Breakfast Smoothie (Basic recipe)
-Yoplait Greek Plain (17 grams protein per 6 oz. and is an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D)
-Frozen fruit (I like blueberries, mango, cranberries)
-small amount fruit juice
-ground flax seed (fiber and omega-3’s)
Then I will have either a hardboiled egg or handful walnuts to round out the meal
Snacks (I have about 2/day) here are some choices:
1. Cottage cheese and triscut crackers (very filling)
2. Hummus and celery/jicama sticks
3. Brown rice, veggies, tofu chopped up sprinkle with soy sauce or miso
4. Hard boiled egg and apple
5. Apple slices dipped in small amount of peanut butter
6. Larabars (many yummy flavors)
7. Trail mix made with: whole grain cereal, nuts, dried fruit
Dinner and lunch are typically salads with lean meat grilled. I also enjoy making soups, which can be healthy and filling.
Have you tried the Two Week Tune Up plan? That has a lot of great recipes as well. I’ll list the website below with some of my other favorite websites.
