I’m in summer propagandize right right away as well as I need to get sufficient food to final me about 3 weeks. I do not have most income since I’ll have to compensate my phone bill, so what full of health dishes can I get upon the $40 budget?
Also, I do not have the stove, so it has to be microwavable.

price rite, Aldi’s, wal-mart
Lot’s of canned soup, Progresso has the 60 calorie per serving ones that are pretty good.
Oatmeal, whole grain cereal, Yogurt
Fruits and Vegetables ( I know they aren’t cheap lately but you can get a few things just to have them in your diet)
Tuna fish, canned beans, peanut butter, whole grain crackers(will last longer than bread)
That’s all I can think of right now, Hope it helps
I eat a lot of the budget gourmets, they make a “light” version and I pay about .75 each. I get them at Walmart.
How about soup, sandwiches and fruit? Nourishing and pretty inexpensive if you look for the best deals.
1. See if there is a local “pick your own” farm, they are usually cheaper than veggies and fruits a the local grocery store.
2. Also check out the local bakery thrift store. You can get healthy bread like whole wheat or bagels for less.
3. Check out the dollar stores, many of them carry groceries now. Get some oatmeal or cereal for breakfast.
4. Check and see if there is an Angelfoods ministry in your area. For $25 you can get a boxfull of healthy food. There is no income requirement or anything…anybody can use it.

Hope that helps
I would buy the following staples:
> Pasta (lot of it!) – you can actually cook pasta in a microwave in a plastic jug with water. I have done it, it works.
> Cheese, buy a family size block and then chop it into smaller chunks. You can freeze some of the chunks or just wrap them in foil very well so that they stay fresh whilst you get through it. Make grilled cheese sandwiches, eat on top of the pasta etc etc.
> Vegetable/noodle soups
> Large sized potatoes that you can make into ‘jacket potatoes’ and eat with a variety of fillings such as cheese and baked beans, cottage cheese, chilli con carne, sour cream etc. (Scrub potato, prick it with a fork and microwave on high for about 10 mins, rest for 5 mins, microwave for another 10 mins and see how its going!)
> Bread – sandwiches, toast, side dish
> COUS COUS! You don’t even need a microwave. Just chuck some in a glass bowl, pour over boiling hot water from the kettle (enough so that there is about 1cm water above the grains) and then immediately cover the bowl with cling wrap. Leave for about 12 minutes. Take off the clingwrap, loosen the grains with a fork and fluff it up. Chop a pepper, cucumber, tomatoes etc and toss in when teh cous cous is cold. Squeeze on a lemon and season. Add some herbs if you have any and eat with some cold meats or just by itself.
> Eggs…..and milk. You can make scrambled eggs in the microwave and eat them on toast.
I would check out fresh markets, sale sections, buy one get one free etc. Make a list before you go to the store and only buy exactly what you need: a basic list of ingredients that you can make into several meals. Do not be tempted to buy lots of ready made stuff, it will work out more expensive. I would also budget for a box of cereal and a carton of milk per week so that you can at least start each day with a solid meal. And then a loaf of bread per week because then you can at the least have sandwiches and toast. Other thing could be to get invited to your friends for dinner a couple of times! Pasta, cous cous and potatoes are cheap and filling and good carbs so I would personally base all my meals around those and buy a few ‘fillings’ or sauces. You need protein which is not cheap but some sliced ham, some cheese and perhaps some cooked chicken could be a good option because you can do a lot with those and spread them out over various meals. Good luck.
