i turned of blood donoring age somewhat recently(four months ago), and im a vegan, i’ve been able to donate twice, and both times i’ve been fine. if you eat a balanced vegan diet donating blood should be fine for you.
common foods that you should be able to get iron and protien from(which im assuming are the main nutrients your worried about) are: dairy, legumes, couscous, quinoa, nuts, seeds, whole grains, soy products, mock meats
you will be consuming meat since you will be eating fish so you can get plenty of iron, B12, and protein from there. amd technically you aren’t a vegetarian then.
for the most part just use the same ways you were using to get nutrients while being vegan, and just use dairy and seafood as well. good luck.
Being a vegetarian today, you really can get all of the nutrients your body needs. I guess things you should watch for are protein, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and calcium. I don’t know if you meant you want to be a vegetarian or vegan, like with calcium you can easily get it if you have yogurt, milk, etc. Protein also isn’t really too hard to get, I’d say have lots of soy and other legumes/beans. Vitamin D3 I think it is comes from animals but you can get your vitamin D from the sun. Protein bars and such are also good for some extra. B12 you can’t get if you are a vegan other than in a supplement but is contained in animal products and fortified in basically all cereal. The seafood gives you omega-3 so that’s helpful. Just experiment with recipes, especially those involving soy products, which are very healthy.
You didn’t mention if you were going to be doing dairy or eggs. But since you are going to be eating fish, you should be fine if you have a well balanced variety of veggies and fruits on top of that.
Unless you have some sort of medical problem already, you should be fine.
seafood = meat
you aren’t vegetarian
don’t call yourself one
call yourself a pescetarian
i care because if you tell ppl you can eat fish as a vegetarian they will never understand the full meaning of vegetarianism
fish suffer too
and have lots of mercury; you don’t need that in your system
you dont need vitamins or supplements either
welcome to the new four food groups
1.fruits
2. vegetables
3. whole grains
4. legumes
Well, here’s all the advice/facts I can offer, I put them all into one place: http://riot-reality.livejournal.com/3445.html There’s a part in there that talks about where to get every nutrient =]
