try to buy as much food that does not come in a box as possible.
frozen soybeans! they dont sound all that appetizing but are actually really tasty and very good for you. just boil the whole package at one and then put the rest in tupperware.. they stay fresh in the fridge and should last you up to 5 or 6 days. sprinkle them with salt and theyre a great, healthy snack.
spaghetti, beans and cornbread, potato soup (with crackers or leftover cornbread), canned soup, sandwiches, ramen noodles, and you can use leftover spaghetti sauce to make homemade pizza. I came from a family of 10 and learned how to cook cheap.
Soups and Salads have endless possiblities. Salads can be any combo of your favorite veggies, and soups are easy and don’t have to come out of a can. A whole chicken can make 6 cups of broth and then use the meat and some veggies for chicken soup. Sandwiches are a good way too. If you use whole grain bread, good deli meat, and favorite toppings.
fresh fruits and vegetables are cheep. like apples, bananas, pears….
potatoes,onions,cabbage, carrots, celery etc…
snack stuff…peanut butter & jam ( not jelly ), tuna sandwitches,crackers, grapes.
I often eat cearal as a snack, I know, weird but cearel has vitamins & minerals in it so would be a heathy snack food. the generic brands are not to expensive.
and use coupons as often as possible.
oh and for meat, look for the sales.
hmm, don’t know how to cook?ok thats a tough one because to keep it cheep & healthy you realy need to cook. maybe you can barrow a cook book from someone. Or buy one at a garage sale or from a thrift store.
if its just a matter of not wanting to be bothered and wanting to use the microwave ( since you said you had hot pockets I am assuming you have one) try experimenting with stuff in the microwave and see how they turn out. I have made some concocktions myself because I didn’t feel like cooking, lol.
I have thrown stuff together in the microwave like a tuna sandwich with cheese in it ( tuna melt), made a hot ham & cheese, made raymon noodles without seasoning in the mic.,drain the water then put speggetti sauce on it, pepperoni & cheese & put in the microwave to heat up. ya, I know that last one was wierd, but so arent I,lol. I just didnt feel like waiting for the water to boil for regular noodles. Just didn’t have the time to wait.
just mix it up. you’ll probably come up with some really good concocktions.
